K&A Canton Chinese Restaurant

K&A Canton Chinese Restaurant

Ordered via Grubhub from K&A Canton Chinese Restaurant (3/5 stars)

We ordered two dinners plus a mushu beef, and a large thai iced tea.

We chose one dinner with steamed rice and hot and sour soup, the other with fried rice and egg flower soup, and both are supposed to come with a wonton and a spring roll.

Sadly, we only had one wonton and one spring roll, instead of two. (Also, the fried rice is just that...fried rice with a little soy sauce, without even a hint of pea, carrot or onion.)

The wonton is just a fried wonton skin, with no filling. The spring roll was crispy, cooked all the way through, and tasty.

We ordered extra pancakes with the mushu beef, and they gave us many (though they just gathered them in a plastic bag rather than wrapping in tin foil so won't store as well)

Sadly, the mushu did not come with plum sauce. However, they charred the beef a little bit, which gave a nice BBQ flavor profile, and with the cabbage made a tasty Chinese burrito. Also, the mushu comes with rice, which is a nice bonus.

The dinners came with a lot of rice, and generous (if simple) vegetables. The egg flower soup was fairly rich, slightly sweet with the corn kernels.

Lastly, the thai iced tea came in a nice plastic cup that has a reusable plug, and the restaurant wrapped the iced tea in a separate cold bag from the other bag carrying all the hot food.

So, the order was a little complex, and they messed it up a bit, though variety is the reason we go to such restaurants in the first place. The quality was expected for the price, but there was some surprising flavor in the various dishes, though the dinners themselves were a bit plain, using much of the typical Chinese thickeners.

Delivery was wonderfully quick, actually faster than estimated, and the delivery person was quite amiable without seeming overworked.

UPDATE: Downgraded to 3/5 stars (from 4/5), as a few hours later I was feeling jittery, and wondering why, and realized that along with the tingling in my lips, that suggested MSG.
